Protect Medford Residents
Politicians are considering rent control and new taxes on real estate purchases- bad policies that will cause financial harm to Medford families.
The Facts:
- Studies show that rent control and new taxes on real estate LOWER PROPERTY VALUES, unfairly punishing people who worked hard to afford a home in Medford.
- These bad policies have been proven to DRIVE DOWN communities’ tax bases, thus hurting funding for schools, police and fire departments, and other essential services.
- Rent control and new taxes on real estate would do NOTHING to rapidly increase the production of affordable homes, which is the ONLY WAY to put an end to the housing crisis.
- These policies would negatively IMPACT OUR LOCAL ECONOMY by discouraging small business owners and developers from investing in Medford.
Tell Mayor Lungo-Koehn and the City Council to OPPOSE these short-sighted ideas.
